Language is much more than just the words it contains.  Your language conveys your culture, the times you live in, your profession, even your age. Have you ever failed at translating a joke?  How about an insult?  These pieces of language are snapshots of a certain worldview and are understood by the people who share it.  If you are not in that club, you don´t get it.  

If you want your work to sail through broader waters, you have to make sure that the translator at the helm knows how to navigate them.  Otherwise, it will sink faster than a fat kid cramping in the pool.

El idioma es mucho más que sólo las palabras que contiene.  Tu forma de hablar revela tu cultura, los tiempos en los que vives, tu profesión, hasta tu edad.  ¿Te ha pasado alguna vez que no has podido traducir un chiste?  ¿O un insulto?  Estas piezas de lenguaje son pequeñas imágenes de una cosmovisión particular y sólo las entienden las personas que la comparten.  Si no eres parte de ese club, no lo entiendes.

Si quieres que tu trabajo surque por mares más anchos, asegúrate de que tu traductor sepa como navegarlos.  De otra manera vas a hundirte más rápido que un niño gordo acalambrándose en una piscina.
